"Experience of the phenomenal capacity of our birthing body can give us an enduring sense of our own power as women. Birth is the beginning of life; the beginning of mothering, and of fathering. We all deserve a good beginning." - Sarah J. Buckley
The word ‘doula’ — pronounced ‘doo-la’ — is a Greek word meaning ‘woman servant or caregiver’. More recently, it refers to someone who offers emotional and practical support to a woman and her birth partner before, during, and after childbirth.
“The wisdom and compassion a woman can intuitively experience in childbirth can make her a source of healing and understanding for other women.”
- Stephen Gaskin
I work with another local Doula, who I know and trust. This means that you get the benefits of a usual Birth Doula, but with two doulas to support you and the safety of knowing that in the unlikely event that one of us is unable to be there on the day, you will have the support of a doula you have met more than once and feel comfortable with.
We generally do all antenatal and postnatal visits together so that you get to know us both and vice versa.
One or both of us will attend the birth, depending on your preference.
We have six children between us and have a range of experience that we bring to our work.
We will provide you with emotional, physical, and educational support to help you have a safe, positive, and empowering birthing experience.
We want to help you look back on your baby's birth with joy and positivity.
At least 2 antenatal visits to discuss your birth choices & talk through how you'd like us to support you.
Ongoing support by telephone and email until 6 weeks after your baby has been born.
Be by your side from start of labour until 1-2 hours after your baby has been born.
A FREE initial consultation to see if we are the right Doulas for you.
Be on call for you 24/7 from 38 weeks until your baby arrives.
A postnatal visit including a birth debrief if you’d like one.
Breastfeeding support if you choose to breastfeed.
Access to a lending library of books and DVDs.
Help with your birth plan.
We offer all of our Doula clients a FREE space in my Hypnobirthing Essentials sessions, if there is a space available and the dates suit you.
Doula clients also get a 20% discount on my 10hr Hypnobirthing courses.
Drop us a line to see if we are the right Doulas for you.
Our fee is £550 – £850 on a sliding scale plus travel costs.
(Mileage above 40 mile per round trip charged at 45p per mile).
Our sliding scale attempts to make our services available to everyone at a level they can afford and increases proportionate to income.
Paying the full fee if you can afford it allows us to offer our services at a lower cost to those who would not otherwise be able to access our support.
Monthly payment plans are also available, and we are always happy to discuss options.
As your postnatal Doula I will help you to simply enjoy your baby, and allow you to spend time developing a close bond and cherishing those amazing newborn snuggles.
If you’re planning a babymoon, the support of postnatal Doula can help you thrive during those first few days and weeks.
Regardless of what kind of birthing experience you’ve had, rest is necessary for healing.
When you have more time to rest, your body is likely to heal more efficiently.
The sooner you heal, the sooner you can enjoy being active with your growing family.
I will nurture you through the transition to parenthood, or to being parents of two or more children. This could mean:
£16 per hour for a 3 hour minimum.
10 hours for £150 spread out to suit your needs over a 3 week period.
20 hours for £280 spread out to suit your needs over a six week period.
Includes mileage expenses within a 40 mile radius from NN9 5AD.
Mileage beyond that per round trip is charged at 45p per mile.
